Trends That Impact Our Data

Trends That Impact Our Data

For years the data we use as organisations have been growing. The use of social media and the use of internet for knowledge is responsible for a big part of the data growth. Which technologies are responsible for the growing needs of data and space nowadays and in the nearby future? The following technology trends will for sure have an impact on the expanding data needs for our companies in the coming years

Data Analytics

Data Analytics will play a bigger part in our primary business process. For several years data analytics is used to improve processes or used by marketing for strategy. More and more, data analytics will play a significant role in our primary business processes. For example, a recent article explained that the digital accountant really is a fact in the Netherlands. Big data and data analytics are used more and more as a replacement and improvement of human work. The digital accountant is no longer used as a pilot, but as real inspection of the financial statements. All financial and a lot of operational administration will be stored and used by the four biggest accounting firms in the Netherlands.

Blockchain

Blockchain is a technology that is already part of our world for some years. Next to cryptocurrency, large businesses are using it for their business. E.g. assurance companies use blokchain technology in the diamond industry and Microsoft adopted blokchain in their products. The reason for the growing popularity of blokchain is the assurance that can be given to data within the blokchain. The blokchain will be used more and more for cooperation between multiple parties where the assurance transactions cannot be modified. A stable network, data and calculating capacity is required for a blokchain to operate.

IoT

Internet of things is also not a new topic, but it will be used more and more. Even in the consumer market the use of IoT is growing. All the data needed to communicate between devices and logging of these devices also request a stable network and a lot of storage. Also, companies such as Dell, IBM and of course Google embraced the IoT technology. Although several security professionals think the IoT technology is adopted too soon and significant threats loom, we cannot ignore this technology will have a big impact on the data growth coming years.

RPA

Robotic Process Automation, a combination of several technologies that require a lot of data, like AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning. RPA seems to be the next level of process automation. Although it is the newest technology in this list, it starts to become the new big thing. The big four accountancy firms have embraced the technology to support clients improving their business, in the coming years this technology will be improved and RPA will become part of many organizations.

The growing use of data that will keep on increasing in the future, demands a safe, secure and stable infrastructure. Everything that makes sure data is available and processable is crucial for these technologies and businesses to survive. The software, hardware and all supporting technologies, such as datacenters delivering the needed continuity and security, must be reliable.
