Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 16 November 2017 – Datacenter.com, a recently established European data center provider that paid over $500,000 to buy its domain name while planning a targeted global roll-out of large-scale colocation data centers globally, announces that one of its first employees enrolled is a Security & Compliance Manager. The new hire, Jouke Albeda, will be based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, at Datacenter.com’s soon to open flagship data center.
In his new role as Security & Compliance Manager, Jouke Albeda will be responsible for Datacenter.com’s data center compliance, privacy and security practices on a global level. Mr. Albeda has been hired to drive Datacenter.com’s robust compliance management strategy, with job activities including the development and management of policies and procedures for achieving and maintaining compliance accreditations such as GDPR, ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 14001, PCI DSS, ISAE3402, and all other related accreditations.
Jouke Albeda comes to Datacenter.com with significant experience in IT auditing, as he previously worked as an IT Auditor for two of the largest consulting firms in the world, EY and BDO. As an accomplished IT Auditor, at EY as well as BDO, Mr. Albeda had the opportunity to help a variety of large international as well as national organizations to identify, develop and test internal compliance controls and policies. These activities included compliance with privacy regulations, and performing third party assurance testing for international organizations that provide data center services.
Compliance Control Mechanisms
“At Datacenter.com, I will now get the opportunity to approach the compliance and security practice from an operational point of view within the colocation data center space,” said Jouke Albeda, the new Security & Compliance Manager at Datacenter.com. “My helicopter view and knowledge gained on an international level will come in handy with Datacenter.com, as across the globe there are several Datacenter.com data center builds planned already.”
Datacenter.com’s management team is placing great emphasis on compliance and security efforts. That’s why they decided to make a Security & Compliance Manager one of their first hires. “It also means that Datacenter.com customers can expect a bit more from us than only showing the compliance certifications received,” added Mr. Albeda. “I will go the extra mile and strive to ensure full transparency for our clients, showing concrete measures we take and explaining all the effort we have made to optimize data center security.”
With the upcoming introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which takes effect in May 2018, Datacenter.com has an additional reason to make this Security & Compliance Manager one of its first hires.
“Today, GDPR, but also PCI-DSS, HIPAA, ISO 27001, and all other relevant security and privacy regulations form an inseparable part of demanding, enterprise-grade colocation data center requirements,” said Jochem Steman, CEO of Datecenter.com. “For financials, healthcare providers and cloud services providers alike, certifications like these will ensure that their sensitive data is in secure hands. As we have planned to roll out several large-scale colocation data centers globally, we are aiming at setting up our security & privacy processes with the most demanding, international requirements in mind. A dedicated Security & Compliance Manager like Jouke Albeda, who previously worked as an IT auditor at EY and BDO, will be the ultimate guarantee that all security & compliance requirements of our local and global customers are being met.”
