ISAE 3402 Type II
The International Standards for Assurance Engagements (ISAE) 3402 is an international assurance standard for reporting on controls at service organizations to protect shareholders and the general public from accounting errors and fraudulent practices. It became effective on June 15, 2011, largely in response to the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and it defines the standards an auditor must employ to assess the contracted internal controls of a service organization. An extension and expansion of SAS 70, it is similar to SSAE 16 in focus but international in scope, making it key for Multinational Corporation (MNC) to track cross-border business activities.
Businesses that use service organizations like Datacenter.com that have been audited for ISAE 3402 compliance have a higher level of trust and confidence in that organizations controls and operational capabilities. Additionally, entity’s that are being audited themselves for ISAE 3402, SSAE 16, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance or similar law or regulation will find it easier to comply with requirements when using an ISAE 3402-audited service organization. This will speed compliance and reduce the cost of compliance.
By complying to the ISAE 3402 Type II standards, Datacenter.com demonstrates that is has well-established an internal control framework that is operating effectively.
